“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”- Genesis 1 vs. 1. The Bible tells us that God created the world and everything in it, including mankind. God called it “good.” It was good. Man and woman were made to live with, know and love God, just as God knows and loves us.
But the devil deceived us, convincing us that God was not trustworthy and was hiding something from us. We decided that we could live apart from God’s commands and sinned. So separation from God and death entered the world through sin. Sin and death go hand in hand. “The wages of sin is death”- Romans 6 vs. 23. “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” - Romans 3 vs. 23
The Bible tells us that everyone has sinned. You have sinned, and I have sinned. That leaves the ugly hopeless debt of death to be paid. Not only physical death, but spiritual death also. “But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Revelation 21 vs. 8 That is what sin is. That is what sin does. It weighs heavily on all creation. Hell is real. It is well documented throughout God's word.
But God still loves us and still wants us to know, love and live with Him. "This is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the payment for our sins." 1 John 4 vs.10 That’s why He paid the price. “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”- John 3 vs. 16 "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5 vs. 8
Jesus was the only one who could pay that price, because He never sinned. He paid a debt that He didn’t owe. He died for us. He was crucified on a cross and buried. But death could not keep Him, because it didn't own Him. He never sinned and so He didn't belong there. “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. Revelation 1 vs. 17 - 19 So He conquered Hell, took the keys and rose again and is alive and well today. There is hope! “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.” The rest of that verse makes all the difference.
Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me.” John 14 vs. 6 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”-Romans 10 vs.9 The Bible spells it out very clearly. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ and nowhere else. "There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4 vs. 12
Jesus said “I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14 vs. 2 – 3 Jesus is going to return and receive all who believe in Him, the living and the ones who have died physically. “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; 17 then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4 vs. 16 – 18 Heaven is real!
That is why we sing. That is why we have peace and hope in a world of increasing darkness and chaos. It is our prayer that you either have or will accept the free gift of God through faith in His one and only Son, Jesus Christ.
If you haven’t and you want to, you must believe in your heart that Christ died to pay the price for your sins, repent of your sins and confess Him as Lord with your mouth. Invite Jesus Christ into your life. Surrender your heart to Him. If you believe in Him and can’t wait to receive His gift of eternal life, you can pray a prayer like this…
"Heavenly Father, have mercy on me, a sinner. I believe in you and that your word is true. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and that he died on the cross so that I may now have forgiveness for my sins and eternal life. I know that without you in my heart my life is meaningless.
I believe in my heart that you, Lord God, raised Him from the dead. Please, Jesus, forgive me for every sin I have ever committed or done in my heart, please, Lord Jesus, forgive me and come into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior today. I need you to be my Father and my friend.
I give you my life and ask you to take full control from this moment on; I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ."
Amen.
